Too much debt because of eBay auctions?

Dunno if anyone saw it, but the Wall Street Journal had a very good article a few days ago called The High Cost of an eBay Obsession where the writer, Jeff Opdyke, talks at length about how spending too much on eBay auctions can easily lead you far, far into personal debt and trash your personal finances. Or worse.

He says "Spending on eBay is so easy and so anonymous ... that it becomes a cyberdrug, an addiction".

I just wonder if the writer has spent any time on a site such as this one, real life debt, where we talk about debt counseling, bankruptcy law and, if you get this far down the line, debt collection agencies.

What do you think? Do reporters actually learn about financial issues, or do they just sit in front of their computer and start typing??
