The Remarkably Popular Carter Franke from BankOne

A while back I wrote about the fake letter I got from BankOne Director Carter Franke, a letter that was clearly not from a real person, but was so typically written to be chatty and friendly. Since then, I've heard from a number of people that they too get this annoying letter. Here are two of the best responses I've received:
Hey there! I didn't have the same problem as you, but I did get a letter from Carter Franke (well really it's just typed at the bottom with a bad fake-signature). I keep getting credit card soliciation letters from Bank One about how I'm a 'preferred' customer -- I haven't had money with them in over a year b/c I hated the way they operated.

So, long story short, I keep writing letters and sending them back in the paid envelope that say how I would like them to take me off the credit card solicitation list and stop addressing me as 'Mr.' (I'm a woman). But, it hasn't seemed to sink in.

I saw your comment on this page and wondered if you knew of a way to get Carter Franke's information. I want to send this letter to HIS office, not the processing center that the paid envelope sends it to. I have a feeling he (or anyone who can make real changes) has not seen any of my letters. I bet card processors get my letters, have a good laugh and then pitch them. Can you help me??

Since I imagine that Carter Franke isn't a real person, it's probably hard to find his office address. But Bank One's corporate address, according to their web site, is J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., 270 Park Ave., New York, NY 10017

And here's the other letter, rather remarkably similar, actually:

I did a google search for Carter Franke, and found your site. I read a few things, and it astounds me at how disconnected credit card companies are. Carter Franke also sent me a letter - again, just a form letter. However, the envelope was a large manila envelope with "DO NOT BEND" printed across the top. So the USPS who seems to have learned how to read, did not bend it, but put a note in my PO Box for a special pick up. Come to find out after two weeks of my schedule not matching the Post Offices hours not matching and 3 notices from the Post Office of this mail, that the "package" is this stupid letter from Carter Franke asking me to sign up for a Bank One credit card. I AM ALREADY A CARD HOLDER IN THIS NAME AND ADDRESS. Unbelievable.

For 6 months now, I've been sending the invitations from credit card companies back to them with their own literature. They've got to pay for the mail to me, and the mail back to them. I figure eventually the may learn to stop sending as much mail. This letter from Carter Franke though is getting taped to a box of bricks and mailed back to them. They'll have to pay for the weight as well.

I can't recommend or encourage this sort of action, and frankly don't think it's more than just juvenile hijinks, but it would be curious to know what happened if a few thousand people sent a brick to Mr. Franke on their "dime"...
