Remember who you are: A human, not an account

Hi everybody, this is my first entry to this web log. (Thanks Dave for creating this site!) Right now as we speak, I've been going through a difficult financial time, but I do have a job now and good things are on the horizon (hopefully). Meanwhile, I'm doing what I can to keep my car from getting repossessed. But on an emotional level, I've realized that during difficult financial times, it's easy to become depressed and start to believe we're worthless. But as a computer programmer, let me say this: I used to work for a company that did billing for several long-distance phone companies. No matter how bad it gets, remember that it's NOTHING PERSONAL. Yes, you owe these companies money (as I owe Honda Finance). But not one person in that company knows me. I am just a record in a database. When I receive letters from these companies, the reality is they were churned out by a computer. Nobody is mad at me, nobody dislikes me, and I'm not a bad person because of this. True, there are trained hawks who call on the phone. But as soon as they hang up, they've forgotten about you and are moving to somebody else. It's nothing personal against you, so stay positive throughout all this. You're still a good person, regardless of your finances. :-) I'll write more soon! :-)
