The credit float
Again with the end of the month stretching of the pennies.
I did some babysitting for a friend's neice over the past couple of weeks. Mostly as a favour, but it did get me a little bit of extra cash. Or it was supposed to.
I was supposed to be paid on Friday, but when I dropped the kids off, the dad did not have the cash on him like he did the Friday before. No problem, mom was off of work on the weekend, so I'd call her then.
Saturday was a write off because I got called in to another little part time thingy I do... so, today, I called. Twice. So, no money - we were counting on that for groceries, and since my little guy got sick, I had to spend money on rehydration drinks and anti-nausea meds. So, without the babysitting money, we would not be able to get both the week's groceries and gas so that my hubby could get to work.
Pre-bankruptcy, when we had overdrafts and the like, it wasn't such a big deal; we had receivables, we knew money was coming. If we dipped into the negatives for a bit, that was OK. There is no longer the convenience of that float; what we have is what we have - and that's it. End of story. Choices have to be made and juggling done. The money's so close, yet so far.
Luckily, there are only three days left until my husband's next paycheque, but I still had to modify and change what I was going to get at the store to only get enough for three days. Will have to go shopping again on the 1st. *Sigh* - just another inconvenience to deal with.
